Founded in 2017, Buffalo Field Festival (BFF) is an annual three-day festival that showcases performances, art exhibitions, and workshops. The name “Buffalo Field” is derived from Nang Loeng’s previous name—Sanam Kwai or ‘field of buffalos’ due to the prevalence of buffalos in the area. Working closely with the community and aiming to share stories and ideas about life in Nang Loeng, Buffalo Field Festival III explores three themes: sustenance, settlement, and social fabric. 

เทศกาลประจำปี Buffalo Field Festival (BFF) ก่อตั้งขึ้นเมื่อปี 2560 โดยเป็นเทศกาลระยะ 3 วันที่ประกอบด้วยการแสดง นิทรรศการศิลปะ และเวิร์คช็อปต่างๆ ชื่อ “Buffalo Field” นี้มีที่มาจากคำว่า” สนามควาย”ซึ่งเป็นชื่อเก่าของนางเลิ้ง เนื่องจากในสมัยก่อนมีควายเป็นจำนวนมากในย่านนี้ จากการทำงานอย่างใกล้ชิดกับชุมชนและความมุ่งหมายที่จะแบ่งปันเรื่องราวและไอเดียเกี่ยวกับชีวิตในชุมชนนางเลิ้ง เทศกาล Buffalo Field Festival III สำรวจประเด็นว่าด้วยการมีชีวิตรอด การตั้งรกราก และสายใยความสัมพันธ์ทางสังคม

The festival is produced by Openspace, as a collaboration between co-founders Michael Hornblow (Artistic Director), Ploy Yamtree (Festival Producer), and Nang Loeng community leaders Dang Suwan Welployngam and Nammon Welployngam from the E-Lerng group. Now in its third year, Buffalo Field invited 8 international artists and 14 Thai artists from Bangkok, to work with local people and perform over two days and nights. Performing in the street, back alleys and shophouses during the day, the festival program culminated each night in a very special area - behind the local temple along the columbarium wall where the ashes and portraits of past generations are kept.

เทศกาลนี้จัดโดย Openspace โดยเป็นการร่วมมือกันระหว่าง Michael Hornblow (Artistic DIrector) Ploy Yamtree (Festival Director) และผู้นำชุมขนนางเลิ้ง แดง สุวรรณ แววพลอยงาม และน้ำมนต์ แวว พลอยงาม จากกลุ่มอีเลีิ้ง ในการจัดงานเป็นครั้งที่สามนี้ เทศกาลได้เชิญชวนศิลปินต่างชาติ 8 คน และศิลปินจากกรุงเทพมหานครอีก 14 คน มาร่วมทำงานกับคนในชุมชนตลอดระยะการแสดงสองวันสองคืน ระหว่างวันการแสดงเกิดขึ้นบนถนน ในซอยและในตึกแถว และเมื่อถึงเวลาค่ำกิจกรรมต่างๆ รวมตัวกันในพื้นที่เศษ นั่นคือบริเวณหลังวัดในชุมชน เลียบผนังที่จัดเก็บอัฐิและรูปภาพของชาวนางเลิ้งรุ่นก่อนๆ 

BFF also ran a 4-day Local Studio, a community discussion forum and creative development process, with local and international design academics working alongside residents and community leaders. Studio outcomes were presented at the festival the following week, including a mobile micro-farm prototype, settlement design games, and several socially-engaged performances on the street.

นอกจากนี้ BFF ยังมีกิจกรรมที่เรียกว่า Local Studio ตลอดเวลา 4 วันมีการจัดวงสนทนาและเป็นกระบวนการพัฒนาการสร้างสรรค์ระหว่างคนในชุมชนแลละผู้เชี่ยวชาญทางด้านการออกแบบจากนานาชาติ และในสัปดาห์ต่อมาผลลัพธ​์ของกิจกรรมจะถูกจัดแสดงที่เทศกาล ไม่ว่าจะเป็นต้นแบบไมโครฟาร์ม เกมการออกแบบการจัดตั้งชุมชน รวมไปถึงการแสดงเชิงสังคมบนถนน
