Goodbye Message from Tamarind

For more than 20 years, a tamarind tree had been standing tall to provide shade for children as they run around and play, as well as shelters for small animals. Community residents would sit under this tamarind tree on a sweltering hot day to chat and enjoy each other’s presence. 

กว่า 20 ปี ต้นมะขามสูงตระหง่านแผ่ร่มเงาให้แก่เด็กๆ ที่วิ่งเล่นในบริเวณ และเอื้อที่อยู่อาศัยให้กับสัตว์เล็กสัตว์น้อย ในวันที่แดดร้อนผ่าว สมาชิกชุมชนมักพักใต้ต้นมะขามเพื่อพูดคุยและหย่อนใจใต้ร่มไม้

In early July 2012, this tamarind tree was set to be cut down and replaced by a parking area. We held a “free hug” event so that those who could “hear” the “Goodbye Message from the Tamarind Tree” could come visit and give their last hugs to a dear community member. 

ต้นเดือนกรกฎาคม ปี 2012 ต้นมะขามต้นนี้จะถูกโค่นลงเพื่อแปลงพื้นที่ให้กลายเป็นที่จอดรถ พวกเราชุมชนนางเลิ้งจึงจัดอีเว้นท์ “กอดฟรี” เพื่อให้สมาชิกชุมชนที่ “ได้ยิน”​ “คำบอกลาจากต้นมะขาม” ได้มาเยี่ยมเยียนและกอดลาอีกสมาชิกของชุมชนเป็นครั้งสุดท้าย
