“นางเลิ้ง” หนึ่งในย่านเก่าแก่ของกรุงเทพมหานคร ที่เต็มไปด้วยเสน่ห์ของของศิลปะ การแสดง ที่ยังคงความคลาสสิกที่ควรค่าแก่การอนุรักษ์ เพื่อรำลึกถึงประวัติศาสตร์ของกรุงเทพมหานคร และ “นางเลิ้ง” ยังเป็นแหล่งรวมอาหารต้นตำรับหลายอย่างที่นักกินรู้จักดี ย้อนไปในอดีต ชุมชนเก่าแก่แห่งนี้ มีนามเดิมว่า “บ้านสนามควาย” แล้วก็เปลี่ยนมาเป็น “อีเลิ้ง” หรือ “นางเลิ้ง” ในสมัยจอมพล ป. พิบูลสงคราม ละแวก “นางเลิ้ง” เปรียบเสมือนย่านสยามสแควร์ในยุคปัจจุบัน ที่มีผู้คนคึกคักหลั่งไหลมาทำกิจกรรม และเดินเที่ยวกันอย่างเพลิดเพลินตลอดทั้งวัน

“Nang Loeng” is an old Bangkok neighborhood that is full of artistic charms of the Thai performing arts that has managed to retain its character to the present day. The area is worthy of conservation as a reminder of the capital’s history. The neighborhood is also a center for original Thai cuisine that is renowned among gourmands.

Originally, this old neighborhood was known as “Baan Saphan Khwai”. This name was later changed to “E Loeng” or “Nang Loeng” during Field Marshal Plaek Pibulsongkhram’s premiership. In its day, the “Nang Loeng” area was akin to today’s Siam Square, where it was a bustling area full of amusements and other activities.

“พี่แดง” @แดง นางเลิ้งร้อยเปอร์เซ็นต์ หรือ “สุวัน แววพลอยงาม” ผู้นำชุมชน “นางเลิ้ง” ที่เกิดและใช้ชีวิตอยู่ที่นางเลิ้ง เห็นการเปลี่ยนแปลงของละแวกนี้มาตลอด และได้เห็นว่า ชุมชนแห่งนี้เป็นหนึ่งในชุมชนที่ประสบปัญหาจากการขยายของเมือง แรกๆ การแก้ปัญหาก็ไม่ค่อยราบรื่น จนเมื่อประมาณ 10 ปีที่แล้ว “พี่แดง” ก็ได้ไอเดีย นำการท่องเที่ยวมาเป็นเครื่องมือ เชื่อมโยงศิลปะการแสดง เชื่อมโยงวิถีชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ของคนในชุมชน เข้าด้วยกัน จนทำให้เกิดงาน เกิดอาชีพ สร้างรายได้ให้กับคนในชุมชน “เราปลุกนางเลิ้งให้มีชีวิต ผ่านเรื่องเล่าในชุมชน ความเชื่อ วิญญาณ รวมถึงประวัติศาสตร์ที่ไม่ถูกบันทึก เพื่อให้ทุกคนได้ร่วมเดินทาง และเรียนรู้ไปด้วยกัน”

“P’Daeng” @แดง นางเลิ้งร้อยเปอร์เซ็นต์ or “Suwan Waenphloingam”, a community leader of “Nang Loeng” was born and has spent her life in this area and has witnessed its transformation. This community was one of those that experienced the problems of urban expansion. Initially, these problems were not dealt with smoothly, until a decade ago when “P’Daeng” had the idea of using tourism as a tool to connect the performing arts with the community’s way of life, thereby creating new jobs and income for members of the community.

“พี่แดง” เล่าว่า ชุมชนนางเลิ้ง เป็นชุมชนศิลปะการแสดง มีละครชาตรี เป็นการแสดงไทยๆ ที่ควรค่าแก่การอนุรักษ์ มีอาคารไม้เก่าที่เป็นโรงหนังในยุคแรกของเมืองไทย ชื่อ “ศาลาเฉลิมธานี”  ในย่านนี้ ยังมีร้านยาโบราณ สมัยรัชกาลที่ 6 และเป็นละแวกที่ “มิตร ชัยบัญชา” พระเอกดังของเมืองไทย เคยอาศัยอยู่ ที่สำคัญคือ มีอาหารหลากหลาย ทั้ง ข้าวขาหมู ข้าวหน้าเป็ด ข้าวสตูว์รสชาติดั่งเดิม ขนมต้ม ขนมเบื้องญวณ 

“P’Daeng” stated that the Nang Loeng community was one that focused on the performing arts. Lakhon Chatri, a uniquely Thai genre of dance-drama is one of the traditions that should be preserved. The community has an old wooden theater, the Sala Chalermthani, which was also one of the first cinemas in Thailand. This area also has a pharmacy that dates to the reign of King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) and was also home to “Mitr Chaibancha”, a Thai performing star. Most importantly, the area is also home to a plethora of original dishes, including slow-braised pork leg on rice, roast duck and rice, stews, khanom tom, and Khanom bueang Yuan (Bánh xèo).

ประวัติที่น่าสนใจของชุมชนนางเลิ้ง และความพยายามของ “พี่แดง” ในการปลุกจิตวิญญาณการรักถิ่นเกิด รู้คุณค่าของประวัติศาสตร์เมืองของคนในชุมชน รวมทั้งการทำงานร่วมกับภาคีเครือข่ายต่างๆ ทั้งไทยและเทศ ทำให้ชุมชนนางเลิ้ง มีกิจกรรมด้านการท่องเที่ยวเชิงสร้างสรรค์มาอย่างต่อเนื่อง ควบคู่กับการทำเส้นทางท่องเที่ยว เช่น กิจกรรมเส้นทางเดินเท้า “นานาอาชีพ” ตามหาอาชีพชาวนางเลิ้ง ที่มีทั้ง อาชีพขายกล้วยแขก คนขายการ์ตูน ทำอานม้า ตัดรองเท้า นางละคร ยายทำขนม ศิลปะประดิษฐ์เพื่อชีวิต หรือจะเป็นอีเว้นท์เก๋ ในช่วงฮาโลวีนปีที่แล้ว กับกิจกรรม “Nang Lerng Ghost Tour แม้ชีวิตสิ้นแล้ว เรื่องเล่ายังมี” ที่มีการนำเทคโนโลยีโลกเสมือน VR/AR มาเชื่อมต่อกับศิลปะ ความเชื่อ และประวัติของนางเลิ้ง มาสร้างความตื่นตาตื่นใจให้ผู้พบเห็น รวมถึงล่าสุด งาน Supernatural Pavillion หรือ “ศาลาอภินิหาร” งานที่จัดขึ้นโดยชิฮารุ ชิโนดะ (Chiharu Shinoda) ศิลปินผู้สร้างและกำกับละครเวที ซึ่งงานในครั้งนี้จัดขึ้นภายใต้ธีมของการพยากรณ์ การทรงเจ้าเข้าผี เวทมนตร์ ผี และพิธีกรรมในย่านนางเลิ้ง กรุงเทพฯ และเป็นครั้งที่สองที่งานจะจัดขึ้นทางรูปแบบออนไลน์

The interesting history of the Nang Loeng community, the endeavors of “P’Daeng” in reviving the appreciation of its local history, as well as work with Thai and international networks has resulted in an active creative industry full of activities, such as walking tours of the various professions in the area, including fried banana vendors, cartoon sellers, saddlers, shoemakers, actresses, dessert sellers, and various arts and crafts.

There are also cool special events. Last year during Halloween, the neighborhood held the “Nang Loeng Ghost Tour: Life may have ended but the stories live on” event, in which participants utilized VR/AR technology to connect with the arts, beliefs, and history of Nang Loeng. Recently, the Supernatural Pavilion organized by Chiharu Shinoda, a stage artist and director, took place under the theme of prophecies, spirit mediums, ghosts, and ceremonies. It will also be the second time that the event will be held online.

“พี่แดง” บอกว่า กิจกรรมต่างๆ ที่พยายามสร้างสรรค์ขึ้น ส่วนหนึ่งเพื่อช่วยให้คนในชุมชนมีรายได้ และมีชีวิตที่ดีขึ้น ซึ่งเธอและคนในชุมชนจะพยายามเดินหน้าต่อไป เพื่อสร้างให้ “ชุมชนนางเลิ้ง” เป็นอีกหนึ่งหน้าประวัติศาสตร์และแหล่งท่องเที่ยวที่ทั้งต่างชาติและคนไทยต้องมาเยือน ซึ่งผู้นำและคนในชุมชน ยังมีไอเดียในการสร้างกิจกรรมเด็ดๆอีกมากมาย แม้ขณะนี้ สถานการณ์โควิด-19 จะทำให้ทุกอย่างสะดุดไป แต่ความพยายามที่เกิดจากจิตสำนึกรักบ้านเกิดของทุกคนที่ “นางเลิ้ง” ยังคงอยู่ และพร้อมเดินหน้าต่อแน่นอน

“P’Daeng” stated that these activities were created in part to allow members of the community to have an additional source of income and improve their livelihoods. She and others in the Nang Loeng community are determined to move forward to open a new chapter in the history of the “Nang Loeng Community” and to develop this area as a must-visit tourist destination for Thai and international visitors. “P’Daeng” and other members in the community still have many more ideas.
